On 26th July 2021, in celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the establishment of Brunei-China diplomatic ties, Brunei-China Art and Visual Culture Festival launches with an array of dance and martial arts performances and the first digital photography exhibition in Brunei Darussalam.
Brunei-China Art and Visual Culture Festival is organized by Huifong’s Art Gallery with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Embassy of The People’s Republic of China, Beijing People’s Association of Friendship with Foreign Countries, Foreign Affairs Office of Nanjing Municipal People’s Government and Brunei-China Friendship Association, and with the sponsorship of Baiduri Bank.
Guest of Honour to the launch is The Honourable Major General (R) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports of Brunei Darussalam. Her Excellency Yu Hong, Ambassador of The People’s Republic of China, also graced the event with spouse Mr. Yu Jie. Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Wadood Bolkiah bin Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz and spouse Pengiran Seti Aminah binti Pengiran Othman also graced the event. Heads of Mission and dignitaries of the ASEAN countries are also present.
President of Brunei-China Friendship Association Dr. Mohammad Firdaus bin Abdul Rahman, CEO of Baiduri Bank Mr. Ti Eng Hui, President of Wushu Federation in Brunei Darussalam Mr. Lim Boon Hwa and President of Alliance Française de Brunei Darussalam Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Laila Diraja Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hazair bin Haji Abdullah are also present to witness the launch.
After the launch, the Guest of Honour and Distinguished Guests are invited to witness the first Digital Photography Exhibition in Brunei Darussalam at the Atrium of Baiduri Bank.
The Exhibition comprises of 150 works by photographers from Brunei Darussalam and China. The photographs are compiled by Beijing People’s Association of Friendship with Foreign Countries, Foreign Affairs Office of Nanjing Municipal People’s Government and Brunei-China Friendship Association, and curated by Huifong’s Art Gallery.
On 27th July 2021, artists from Brunei Darussalam and China gathered at Baiduri Bank for a dialogue across the virtual platform to share insights while looking forward to forging artistic friendship with one another.

The artists from China are Chen Fubin, Mai Hongjun, Ma Lin and Zheng Ziwei from Beijing Fine Art Academy. The artists from Brunei are Pengiran Seti Amanina Wafiqah bte Pengiran Anak Hj Abdul Wadood Bolkiah, Faiq Airudin, Kris Karmila, Chong Hao Wen and Amir Hazwan. Host and Translator to the dialogue is award-winning artist and Deputy Secretary-General of Brunei-China Friendship Association, Huifong Ng.
The festival closes with a Certificate Presentation to all participating Photographers, Artists, Dancers, Martial Artists and Calligraphers by CEO of Baiduri Bank Mr. Ti Eng Hui and President of Brunei-China Friendship Association Dr. Muhd. Firdaus bin Abdul Rahman, respectively.
