About the Artist – Huifong Ng (born 1981)

Born in Kuala Belait, Brunei, Huifong Ng is third generation Brunei-Chinese.

Huifong is an intuitive portraitist. Her works are inspired by stories from the heart. As deep emotions are felt in the eyes of her portraits, she is also known as “The Soul Artist”.

Huifong traveled to the United States of America and France to learn from famous art masters. Her passion in studying facial features later took her to learning sculpting in Italy.

An avid solo traveler, Huifong finds joy in painting the people she meets during her travels and in rekindling their stories into her art pieces. Huifong speaks English, Malay, Mandarin, French and Italian, as well as Chinese dialects such as Hokkien and Cantonese. Her search for inspirations has taken her to Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, China, Japan, United Kingdom, France, Italy, United States of America and Australia.

In 2014, Huifong held her first solo exhibition in Singapore. Two of her exhibited works, the portraits of Singapore’s Founding Father Mr. Lee Kuan Yew, received enormous attention from both Singapore media and public. The following year, in 2015, Huifong gave back to society by donating the two portraits of Mr. Lee Kuan Yew to two charitable organizations in Singapore.

Despite of her busy schedule, Huifong has also been actively participating in group exhibitions and international art expos in Brunei, Italy and China to connect with art lovers and artists alike.

Huifong’s esteemed clientele includes businessmen, government bodies and art collectors. In 2015, Huifong was commissioned by her client to paint the Prime Minister of Singapore, Mr. Lee Hsien Loong. Huifong presented the painting to PM Lee in person in a public event. In 2016, Huifong was commissioned by a charitable organization to paint the portraits of Mr. Tony Tan, President of Singapore and his wife, Mary Tan.
